Bye, Bye, Larry: Jason Biggs not appearing in next season of “OITNB”
Did you hear that? Was that, could it be, cheering? It was like I felt a great celebration in the lesbian force, as if a million voices suddenly cried out in harmony, and suddenly screamed, “BUH-BYE, LARRY!”
First reported by the New York Daily News and confirmed by Netflix, Jason Biggs and his character Larry Bloom will not be coming back for Season 3 of Orange Is the New Black. Biggs told the Daily News that there was “But there’s always a possibility he can come back.” You know, like a weird rash you thought you got rid of but came back in the summer. Kidding. Not really.
Bigg’s Larry has been much maligned throughout the show’s two season run, particularly by the show’s many lesbian and bisexual female fans. I mean, Larry or Alex? Puh-lease. No contest. Plus Piper and her former fiancĂ© left things decidedly off at the end of last season, when he began dating her best friend. To his credit, Biggs seems to have taken the nonexistence of a Team Larry in relative stride.
I actually consider this news karmic payback for the terrible news before the start of last August that Laura Prepon would be leaving the series in Season 2. Remember those terrible, terrible dark days when that was announced?
So now, finally, the universe issues its apology for putting us through the anguish that has been Larry. I believe our collective feelings can only possibly be expressed via the power of gifs. Please, feel free to add your own in the comments. Because, ladies, the joy is real.
At first we felt like this.
And then we felt like dancing.
I mean we REALLY felt like dancing.
And then all the ladies of Litchfield felt like dancing.
And then just nothing could contain our emotions.
But don’t feel too bad for the guy. We know he is keeping busy.
Bye, Larry. BYE.
