Name a more iconic sports power couple than Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird. Good ahead, I’ll wait. We better figure out what their couple name will be quick because they’re engaged! Pinoe was suspiciously absent from the USWNT camp last week. Many wondered why. Was she done with soccer? Had she been cut? Was it a COVID-related reason? Little did we know it was because she took her girlfriend to a tropical island. To celebrate her fourth WNBA title? Perhaps. To pop the question? Most definitely. On October 30th, Sue shared a photo on her Instagram page.
It didn’t take long for congratulations posts to roll in. Everyone from teammates, sports channels, and even Joe Biden himself congratulated the couple on their enGAYgement.
Yes it does ☺️❤️ Thank you! (Everyone go vote now) https://t.co/loh3Zk42rD

The couple met during the 2016 Olympics. They’ve been inseparable ever since. When the pandemic hit, they quarantined together. Rather than play with the OL Reign, Pinoe instead opted to stay in the WNBA bubble and support her girlfriend. They may as well already be married the way they’re acting. We all knew it was coming, but somehow it was still a pleasant surprise. Why? Oh, did I forget to mention Pinoe was already engaged to someone else when she met Sue? But that was then and this is now. And it seems like she’s had marriage on her mind, lately. And in a Vox interview, when asked if they were going to get married Pinoe said:
“I don’t know. I was asking the other day. I’m like, “Let’s go to city hall, get married.” She’s like, “We’ve never talked about marriage before.” And she’s like, “I thought you didn’t want to.” I’m like, “Hmm, I’m feeling romantic.” I don’t know. It’s weird from a societal standpoint. I’m like, I don’t need to get married. It’s just a lot. But then it’s just her and I and I love her. So.”

Pair that with the fact that in one of her Insta Lives, Sue did say, “I mean, if Megan proposes and a marriage happens, I’ll let you know.” She kept her word.
Proposing to your WNBA champion girlfriend in a tropical paradise seems like a really valid reason to opt out of a snowy USWNT camp tbh

As for when the wedding will be, well they didn’t say. But it’s safe to assume it’ll be once we’ve got COVID reigned in. Rest assured we’ll be covering that too, so you won’t miss a thing.
